A hilarious satire about the “dangers” of marijuana. Absolutely Zany, fun, and at times incredibly poignant and relevant.

Reefer Madness, based on the 1930’s public service announcement movie, Satirizes the false and perceived dangers of marijuana. We are guided through the story by a lecturer pointing out the dangers of the leafy green menace. The main story follows inocent Mary lane and her boyfriend Jimmy Harper, as Harper is led down a drug fueled life or theft, sex, murder, and general debotchary.

The song and dancing are infectious and hilarious! The show over all is just. a good time.

Reviews

“Behind the scenes is also a solid production team with a keen understanding of this show… production team’s work includes Jessica Utz’s gorgeous costumes, impressive (and hilariously fitting) lighting by Hailey LaRoe, and brilliant prop work from Karissa Martinez. - Broadway World

“NextStop’s production of Reefer Madness is a ridiculously fun time, with poignant and not-so-subtle jabs at the American history of media manipulation and government scapegoating. The show is all farce and an over-the-top narrative that could easily become eye-rollingly kitschy but flows with such impeccable timing and stellar performances that instead creates a side-splittingly crazy ride.”

“NextStop’s production doesn’t force-feed the moral. They dress it up in lively costumes, high kicks, and soapy songs and then gently lay the facts at the audience’s feet. If the crowd so chooses, they can simply cheer at the spectacle and go about their lives. Reefer Madness is a fantastic show with impressive performances by all involved and a biting commentary with a striking resemblance to today’s messaging for those who care to heed the warning.”
