The Womxn on Fire Festival is an annual week long festival feature vocal performance, many new works one act plays, the premier of a new full length play, and the traveling one woman show “the elephant in the room.” This festival is designed to give Women, Non-binary, and trans folks a platform to make their voices heard. the festival makes a particular effort to showcase a diverse group of womxn performers, directors, playwrights, and designers. It was truly an empowering event that is sadly all to rare. I am incredibly proud to have worked on this show.

Fire and Spice

Fire and Spice was the opening Event of the 2020 Womxn on Fire Festival. The festival featured a variety of singers and instrumentalists performing songs typically written for and performed by men. These electrifying performers completely transformed and reimagined these songs. A fantastic start to the festival.

New Works

One of the primary purposes of the festival is to present new works written and directed by womxn. The festival featured a series of nine new 10 minute one act plays and one new full length play called Little Wars by Graziella Jackson. All these plays are vastly different from each other. Some of these stories are realist, some surrealist, some comedic, and some tragic. All these stories deal in some why with the lives of Womxn, in complex, mundane, and intimate ways. Truly a joy to see and work on.

Elephant in the Room

The Elephant in the Room is a witty and introspective look at Priyanka Shetty’s life as a student moving to America from India. A brilliant and deeply person story that will leave you laughing.
